GREEN BELT TRAINING & CERTIFICATION
..
Green Belts are the persons, trained on the improvement methodology of Six Sigma, who will lead a process or quality improvement team as "part" of their job. Extensive product/process knowledge in their company is a must in their task of effecting such improvement. The Green Belts serve an important role - that of percolating the Six Sigma culture across a wider cross section of the organisation. Under the overall guidance of Black belts, they are capable of leading Six Sigma projects which are relatively less critical in terms of their impact on the bottom line, and require a lesser application of in-depth statistical analysis.

Objective: This training imparts in-depth knowledge of Six Sigma methodology; effective leadership of a Six Sigma team in terms of product value, schedule and cost; an ability to manage project risk.

Participants: Six Sigma Green Belt candidates. For maximum benefit companies are advised to select persons with product/process knowledge.

Duration: The Green Belt training comprises the following 2 stages.

(a) DMAIC - This consists of phased modules (Define & Measure, Analyse, Improve & Control) of 10 training days in case of Manufacturing and Transactional Services corporates, and 6 training days in case of Software and IT corporates, who have consultancy assignments with us. In case of open enrollment/public training, and corporates without any consultancy assignments with us, the course would consist of 5 contiguous training days.

(b) DFSS(DMADV) - For Software & IT sector, the DMAIC training is followed by 5 or 6 training days of DFSS (DMADV) training.

Under both (a) and (b) above, these phased training modules are interspersed with a month long live project for corporates who have consultancy assignments with us. For open enrollment/public training, and corporates without any consultancy assignments with us, the 5 days' training is for a contiguous period, and a case study is used instead of a project. The live projects and case studies give the students the opportunity to immediately apply the knowledge gained to real life situations.

Note: Whereas for the Manufacturing and Transactional Services verticals, major emphasis of the training is on the DMAIC methodology, for the Software and IT sector, there is a definite need for the Belts to be trained in the DFSS methodology as well. As such, we cover DFSS training as a separate module, which is strongly recommended for the Software and IT people – but is not applicable for the Manufacturing and Services people.

Pre-Requisites : Each student must have a laptop computer and, where consultancy is involved, come prepared with a live potential Six Sigma project on which the student will be required to work in the intervening period between different training modules.

Certification: On successful completion of this program, the candidates will get a Green Belt certification jointly from DSS Systems & Software Technologies Ltd., India and Six Sigma Advantage Inc., USA.
