DSS successfully conducted its first Green Belt Training and Certification program in Pune from the 21 st September to 25 th September 2005. The participants for this training were Black Belts from organizations such as IBM, Progeon and Tata Johnson. The candidates’ inspite of being Black Belts were keen on learning the specialized approach of Six Sigma for Software & IT and the methods, metrics and tools of Six Sigma that have been specifically developed for this sector.

The training was conducted by Ms.Medha Stephen (Director and CTO of DSS). Ms.Stephen is a Master Black Belt with 25 years of experience in the Software & IT domain.

The participants were trained in the DFSS methodology of Six Sigma, which is a very specialized effort. DSS is imparting training in DFSS (DMADV) with a specialized approach for Software & IT in India for the first time. The participants worked on case studies and exercises related to their industry to get the realistic understanding of DFSS implementation. Among the various tools that were covered during the DFSS for Software training, the candidates were also taught TRIZ- which is an innovative problem solving tool. The candidates were also trained on Softwares such as Solutions Process- A Six Sigma project tracking software, developed in house by DSS.

The candidates successfully answered the exam at the end of the training and were awarded the DFSS Green Belt Certificate for Software & IT.
