DSS Systems and Software Technologies Ltd, who have an exclusive strategic alliance with SSAI, conducted a seminar on “Six Sigma for Manufacturing” at Hotel Green Park, Chennai on Tuesday, 13th September 2005. DSS is a 29-year-old Management System Consulting and Software Services organization, located at Pune, offering Six Sigma Training, Implementation and Consultancy for various sectors of business, which includes Manufacturing, Service, IT and ITES.
The seminar started at 3 pm with an introduction to the concept of Six Sigma and its applications to the manufacturing and services industry. This seminar highlighted the practical applicability of Six Sigma in addressing the core issues of these businesses, like rejection control, meeting customer expectations in terms of Quality, Cost and Delivery, Improving bottom line performance, etc.
Mr. Ramesh Sachdeva, Chairman and Managing Director of DSS, addressed the crowd, which included senior professionals from leading manufacturing and services companies in Pune. Mr. Sachdeva emphasized that the focus of Six Sigma initiative is to reduce cost by minimizing defects and rework and thus increase the revenue through improved customer satisfaction He reiterated his statement with practical examples of successful Six Sigma deployments in the industry. Questions regarding coexistence of Six Sigma with other process improvement initiatives or standards like ISO 9001-2000, QS-9000, TS-16949, Kaizen, 5S etc. were also addressed in the session. The seminar was followed by a question answer session and high tea during which Mr.Sachdeva interacted with the audience and addressed concerns regarding Six Sigma implementation.
After the high tea, Mr. Himanshu Gupte, Sr Manager Business Development presented and demonstrated Online Process Quality Management System (Pro-QMS). In the presentation, he explained the practical applicability of Pro-QMS in addressing the core issues of these businesses like rejection control, meeting customer expectations in terms of Quality & Cost, Online process monitoring, corrective and preventive actions, measurement system analysis, etc.
